Pier Paolo Vergerio (the Elder) (23 July – 8 July or ) was an Italian humanist, statesman, pedagogist and canon lawyer.
Life
Vergerio was born in Capodistria, Istria, afterward in the Republic of City. He studied rhetoric at Patavium, canon law at Florence (–89) and at Bologna (–90).
